Kelly McNeely:Great. How are you guys doing?
James Jay Edwards:Doing Awesome.
Kelly McNeely:Very excited to be here again. This is
James Jay Edwards:You join Waylon Jordan as a multi
Kelly McNeely:Well, I'm honored. I'm honored
James Jay Edwards:that also with us, is I am going to
Bri Spieldenner:It was very close Bri Spieldenner, like
James Jay Edwards:And you know, I could have checked that before
Jonathan Correia:Well, now is there
James Jay Edwards:two.
Jonathan Correia:Yeah, more than one. So now we are a
James Jay Edwards:And their podcast is called Murmurs from everybody know before we dive into our episode
Kelly McNeely:Bri, do you want to take this one?
Bri Spieldenner:Okay. Yeah. Our podcast is where we just discuss like you guys, our 2020, or top horror movies of 2020. And our next episode is
James Jay Edwards:You had me at fringe movies. Because that's my
Jonathan Correia:You had me deep dives. Yeah.
James Jay Edwards:Yeah, they're their pod is. It does it is more
Kelly McNeely:We do. Yeah, give me a lot of lists. I reckon.
James Jay Edwards:That's all good. Um, and Kelly knows the doing? Who wants to go first?
Jacob Davidson:Um, well, I got to see a bunch of movies from
James Jay Edwards:Yeah, you were at Sundance. What's good
Jacob Davidson:Yeah. Well, yeah, as you can imagine, I was where they actually made like horror movies that they consider starts to kind of affect her mind. So it was a really
Jonathan Correia:How was that?
Jacob Davidson:Oh, it was it was interesting, because I kind did shoot it during the pandemic and there's kind of an element
Kelly McNeely:How was it?
Jacob Davidson:Weird as fuck? That's why I loved it. It's kind Nicolas Cage's character into this wasteland called The
Kelly McNeely:Oh my god. Oh
Bri Spieldenner:my god.
Jacob Davidson:Yeah. So
Bri Spieldenner:Sion Sono was always so crazy. Oh, he's slow
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, I forget how many they said I think this
Bri Spieldenner:Oh my God.
Jacob Davidson:That's crazy. It's kind of like Takashi Miike.
Bri Spieldenner:I think he actually had a heart attack two
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, no, actually, he talked there was an
Bri Spieldenner:Good thing.
Jacob Davidson:Yeah. So that was pretty interesting. But movie, which I also double featured with Brotherhood Of the horror and, and kind of internet communities. And, and I was
Bri Spieldenner:I love creepy pasta movies. Yeah,
James Jay Edwards:I have been kind of stepping back from
Kelly McNeely:No, I keep meaning to it's a document.
James Jay Edwards:Its a four part documentary about the Night about the nightstalker. And you kind of don't, there's not episode may is when they realize who the guy is. So the last their
Kelly McNeely:vigilante justice.
Bri Spieldenner:Yeah.
James Jay Edwards:And they're showing news footage interviews It's really interesting.
Bri Spieldenner:That's like real life A Nightmare on Elm
Kelly McNeely:Yeah.
James Jay Edwards:And also, I watched I caught up with the worth watching. Every episode seemed to have like one of those
Jacob Davidson:yes, I love it.
James Jay Edwards:Wandavision. Speaking of you know, Horror It starts to make sense and they are going somewhere with it. I
Jonathan Correia:Ooh, buddy. Like, no. I thought that's why
James Jay Edwards:Oh no. Yeah, I haven't even gotten to though that that's how you get the joke
Jonathan Correia:Well, might I give a suggestion of what else right. And I have like one about Italian knockoffs of the them. So I'm like, oh, that movie sounds cool. But I watch me, because Nazisploitation, li e, you know, I've seen Elsa, I'
Bri Spieldenner:it definitely be an interesting genre to view
Jonathan Correia:right? But to actually like, watch the movie, of extreme torture. And so you know, sex and stuff. Why did it movie about a doc about genre that made me not want to buy
Kelly McNeely:You're sat there.
James Jay Edwards:Kelly and Bri, what do you guys been
Bri Spieldenner:Kelly, you want to go first?
Kelly McNeely:Sure. So I watched recently, for Sundance, I've been waiting so long to see it again. It's so I did re watch
Bri Spieldenner:I still have not seen it, unfortunately. So I know, I know.
Jonathan Correia:I'm still waiting on my blu ray to come
Jacob Davidson:Out at the drive in last week.
Kelly McNeely:Nice. I can. That would be very interesting
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, there was one particular scare where I
Jonathan Correia:I think I know what scene you're talking about
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, I think you probably do.
Kelly McNeely:And then I also watched Sator, because I've got for this movie. It's such a deeply personal project. And like, it's such a slow burn, but it's it's really good knowing
James Jay Edwards:Is it a ocumentary?
Kelly McNeely:No, it's a it's a fiction film. But basically, after them. And so he basically took this family mental trauma experiences. But it's also presented as like a it, because again, it's so like, deeply personal to them.
Jonathan Correia:Oh, yeah, that sounds awesome. I'm looking
Kelly McNeely:is very cool. It's also just like visually,
Bri Spieldenner:I have really not been watching a lot of Witch, so it has witches in it so slightly horror. But what I
James Jay Edwards:Not recommended in general are not
Bri Spieldenner:no one. No one should watch this movie. It was unfortunately.
Kelly McNeely:Oh no.
Jacob Davidson:That is unfortunate, huh?
Bri Spieldenner:Yeah. And then other than that, I also on the
Jonathan Correia:Ooh. what, have you seen New Kids?
Bri Spieldenner:New Kids?
Jonathan Correia:Yeah.
Bri Spieldenner:No
Jonathan Correia:It's from Sean Cunningham. You know, Friday,
Bri Spieldenner:I will definitely be checking it out
Jonathan Correia:Oh, yeah.
James Jay Edwards:Lori Loughlin is in it too. Like, yeah,
Jonathan Correia:But around the time she made Rad so you know, too, like the reaction and stuff was too on point. And real. So
Bri Spieldenner:You can never tell with pre like 90s movies.
Jonathan Correia:Well, I mean, I did just watch Cannibal no absolute reason for it to be made. But now that it is made
Bri Spieldenner:That's interesting. Are we going? are
Jonathan Correia:It's a trashy movie
Bri Spieldenner:Because I'll defend it if I have to.
Jonathan Correia:I mean, I'm not gonna defend that movie at
Bri Spieldenner:other than the animal cruelty, you know, that's
Jonathan Correia:I did like, Grindhouse Release did a really We are super against this. We're showing it as is because we like it when places go like yeah, you know, this exists. And
Kelly McNeely:We want to put some context into this. Yeah, I
James Jay Edwards:And didn't Joe Bob show the animal cruelty
Bri Spieldenner:I think that he didn't show the animal cruelty
James Jay Edwards:Yeah. Okay. I guess, when they were filming with him and he was gonna escape. The first chance he got to He's like, Okay, I'm gonna have to bring my actors into
Jonathan Correia:Which is one of the prime examples like I there was maybe with the second round of people who you know who
Bri Spieldenner:It's called suspension of, of belief.
Jonathan Correia:I know. And I'm not gonna say that like
Kelly McNeely:I had an interesting week of I was like, the Golden Glove and Brutal and Atrocious and
Bri Spieldenner:I can't do that anymore. I could only do that at
Kelly McNeely:Yeah, fair enough.
Jonathan Correia:Yeah, I'm finding my tolerance for those sounds awesome. No, it's just a softcore porno with like a few core, but I was really into like, how are they going to do Jacobs from Community in it. And it's it was it was good. It felt SpongeBob on his phone a lot. And then all sudden, this little the rest of the movie is this monster trying to get this that being more of like a selling point. You know, like,
James Jay Edwards:Being like the Babadook is not a bad thing, I mean, why not? Babdook is an incredible movie.
Jonathan Correia:Oh, yeah. But you could see someone being
James Jay Edwards:Stop I'm already sold. I didn't know. I was saying like that I did that. The thing I seeing, you know, this spooky creature know and believing it know? And then like, the creature will start using that
Bri Spieldenner:It kind of sounds to me like the Elsa gate that and made weird videos on YouTube that are kind of like
Jonathan Correia:Yeah, it seems like it tooks took some
James Jay Edwards:Yeah. What do you think of Momo?
Jonathan Correia:Momo, stupid it's it's, it was 2019 satanic
James Jay Edwards:I don't want to get you started on it. I'm
Jonathan Correia:did have an episode about that. Yeah, yeah.
Bri Spieldenner:Yeah, those those internet things are so
Kelly McNeely:Mm hmm.
Jonathan Correia:There's some like, legitimately really creepy yeah,
Kelly McNeely:this is sinister. Yeah. It sounds
James Jay Edwards:Let's move on to our topic, which we our topic we're gonna go to sci fi and whatever as well. Who wants to
Jacob Davidson:Well, if we're gonna start off I think starting Universal ones, they crossed over. Once they realized what everything together and Lon Chaney Jr. God bless him always
Jonathan Correia:He nailed it.
James Jay Edwards:He did it.
Jonathan Correia:Wasn't it like a house of Frankenstein when
Kelly McNeely:Yeah, and I know that with Abbott and Costello
Bri Spieldenner:There was a few of them.
Kelly McNeely:Yeah. And the killer Boris Karloff as well
Jacob Davidson:And also Boris Karloff was Mr. Hyde in Abbott
James Jay Edwards:Boris Karloff was in house of Dracula. But he a kitchen sink movie, but
Jacob Davidson:but that's the great thing about the universal crazy crossovers and people loved it
James Jay Edwards:was the dark universe before there was a dark
Jonathan Correia:I was just about to say it was so funny
Kelly McNeely:I do love that Apparently the Australian Film
James Jay Edwards:Oh, okay.
Kelly McNeely:Yeah, how
Jacob Davidson:do you have him beat Frankenstein
Kelly McNeely:there's it's just happening Castello at that
Jonathan Correia:I've been in Castello, me. And it's just
Jacob Davidson:blank. Although that's that's the thing I really the monsters are still threatening and they and they
Jonathan Correia:Oh, just the ending to meets Frankenstein
Bri Spieldenner:But yeah, so great. such an iconic ending.
Jonathan Correia:It's one of the best Invisible Man moments
Jacob Davidson:for sure. Yeah, and I did love. I actually did bits. Were like Mr. Hyde's there and then he switches places with
Jonathan Correia:And there wasn't really many that followed
James Jay Edwards:can't really think of any Godzilla movies. then there was Mothra and let's ut her in a Godzilla movie. So arvel Universe because you now, you've got different tiers
Jonathan Correia:and then and then Godzilla actually went into because at the time King Kong was far more popular than
James Jay Edwards:alternate cut, but it's actually not it's
Bri Spieldenner:Oh, wow,
James Jay Edwards:he lived so you're right there is no scene
Bri Spieldenner:What would you say is more popular now? popular
Jacob Davidson:I mean, Godzilla is Oh, Godzilla. Definitely.
Jonathan Correia:Yeah. Which by the way, did you guys see the
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, yeah. Oh, for
Jonathan Correia:that the guys who made Shin Godzilla are doing almost nothing about the looks of them. So Ultraman still looks
James Jay Edwards:Last time we recorded in the middle of
Jacob Davidson:Yeah.
James Jay Edwards:so we haven't talked about it yet. It is
Jacob Davidson:Mm hmm.
James Jay Edwards:Two dead flying serpents? No murder
Kelly McNeely:It's economical.
Jacob Davidson:Speaking of weapons. Kong has an axe.
Jonathan Correia:A battle axe.
Kelly McNeely:Yes, I
Jonathan Correia:love it.
Jacob Davidson:I really hope I get the chance to see that in
Bri Spieldenner:Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, for sure. I honestly like
Kelly McNeely:Absolutely.
Jonathan Correia:still gonna watch it at home a bunch of
Jacob Davidson:and I'm gonna see it at the drive in.
Jonathan Correia:Yep, I'm probably gonna try to see it at
James Jay Edwards:There's about six feet between 4 dx theaters
Jonathan Correia:That's that's the only way you can get me in a
Kelly McNeely:Feel the sweat? Yeah.
James Jay Edwards:Did you miss your last episode? Kelly? sweat.
Jonathan Correia:I just want Joe Mangello to sweat on me.
Jacob Davidson:Well, this isn't like an outright example. But genres were vampire movies and kung fu movies. So Hammer and resurrected by Dracula edit just delivers. You know, you got studio crossover because you had both studios working together
Bri Spieldenner:cultural crossover is when it comes to
Jacob Davidson:Vampires are versatile.
Kelly McNeely:It's true.
James Jay Edwards:I think what people think, crossovers these predator movies? Mm hmm. Yeah, so the franchise together,
Kelly McNeely:Well, apparently though, the brothers Strauss
Jacob Davidson:Kind of killed the franchise.
James Jay Edwards:Does anybody else when they see one of those
Jacob Davidson:Well, and that's the other thing too, that like
Kelly McNeely:89 I think Yeah.
Jonathan Correia:And the 90s they had great video games of
Jacob Davidson:yeah, the Konami Alien vs. Predator came. I love
James Jay Edwards:Yeah. So like those ends like you know, that
Kelly McNeely:Yeah, the fact that he did like that, as well
Jonathan Correia:At first,
Bri Spieldenner:I would love to see a crossover of all of his
Kelly McNeely:Alien vs. Predator versus Resident Evil
Bri Spieldenner:Yeah. Versus event horizon.
James Jay Edwards:I want to see all of Paul Ws Anderson's movies
Jacob Davidson:Oh, man, I don't even know how that's gonna work.
Jonathan Correia:Could you just imagine just Mortal Kombat done
James Jay Edwards:Well, let's move to the other big crossover
Jonathan Correia:Now that's how you do a crossover.
James Jay Edwards:Speaking of Yes, speaking of joining two
Jacob Davidson:There was a whole book written about like whole spectrum of writers and directors. So like, it took a
Kelly McNeely:doesn't say they initially had the idea like in they could each control it. And that didn't really go anywhere. Barton.
Jacob Davidson:And Jason goes to hell had that big lead into
James Jay Edwards:Yeah, there was no way they could not make
Kelly McNeely:Yeah, exactly.
Jonathan Correia:They did sneak in Jason X before and so they
Jacob Davidson:yeah, that whole thing
Jonathan Correia:and, and that was because I think Miramax was let's try to get them into Freddy vs. Jason and they, like much fun working on Wait a minute. I wasn't in that fucking
Jacob Davidson:Oh, my Yes. Love that bit. Although they did get
Jonathan Correia:Yeah. And I think that was one of the one of
James Jay Edwards:My favorite thing with Freddy vs. Jason is
Jacob Davidson:Like that moment is how everybody who played Halo
Kelly McNeely:I had that.
Jonathan Correia:So good. And then they were gonna make a they were awesome. If you ever get a chance to hunt down those Jason's mom actually uses the Necronomicon to bring back
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, and they even allude to that and Jason
Jonathan Correia:Kandarien Darian dagger. Yeah,
Jacob Davidson:the Kandarien dagger. Yeah,
Jonathan Correia:but the best part of the comics is, because messing with them in the worst ways possible. And it's just,
Jacob Davidson:anything could happen in comics.
Jonathan Correia:Exactly.
Bri Spieldenner:Yeah, I feel like the Freddy vs. Jason movie like that change is
Kelly McNeely:that period in the 2000s because like that was
Jacob Davidson:so much nu metal so good.
Kelly McNeely:You can't get away with that type of cheese
James Jay Edwards:I would say Book of Shadows has a soundtrack
Jacob Davidson:fair, fair.
Jonathan Correia:You still haven't convinced me to watch
James Jay Edwards:you have not even watched it.
Jonathan Correia:I just haven't got around to it.
James Jay Edwards:I'll die on that hill. Love Book of Shadows.
Bri Spieldenner:To Freddy vs. Jason than it is to the original
Jonathan Correia:there is that?
James Jay Edwards:Yeah. Yeah. Oh, and Some Kind of Monster the
Jonathan Correia:Yeah. But like, there hasn't really been.
Jacob Davidson:the ring. Versus
Kelly McNeely:Kyoko. Yeah, I
James Jay Edwards:was gonna say Jacob knows the names. What is
Jacob Davidson:Sadako vs kyaKo
Kelly McNeely:Yeah. Which is originally a April Fool's joke
Jacob Davidson:shit. And they did.
Kelly McNeely:And they did. Their marketing for the movie
Jacob Davidson:my favorite was they actually had Sadoko and
James Jay Edwards:that was painful to watch because it took
Bri Spieldenner:with those two is that they're not very like
Kelly McNeely:Yeah, there's not a lot of letters on there.
Jacob Davidson:Although it is it is amazing that they made you
Bri Spieldenner:Well, that logic.
Jacob Davidson:Hey, desperate times call for desperate
Kelly McNeely:Yeah, staffing choices, seeing what comes out
Jacob Davidson:And it was directed by Koji Shiraishi? who
Bri Spieldenner:which is surprising, honestly, because I
Jacob Davidson:a little bit. Although I thought it was still
Bri Spieldenner:Yeah, it definitely had its moments. But to rely on jokes? And most of them do just rely on jokes?
James Jay Edwards:there's an innate absurdity to crossing anyway, is kind of absurd. So yeah, I think that the best Well, I
Kelly McNeely:know that there was supposed to be a crossover.
Bri Spieldenner:He's very serious nything absurd?
Kelly McNeely:Yeah, he shut it down. Like bless him for doing
Jacob Davidson:Yeah,
James Jay Edwards:let's start wrapping this up. But let's,
Bri Spieldenner:Oh, yeah. That's a good one.
Jacob Davidson:Like that makes sense.
James Jay Edwards:That would be to me would just because you got
Jonathan Correia:I mean, well, I was just about to say which
James Jay Edwards:the original original
Jonathan Correia:originals? Okay.
James Jay Edwards:Versus the Brad Dourif
Jonathan Correia:not robot Chucky versus WWE, Chucky? Or
Jacob Davidson:It's funny. You mentioned that because there was stepped on him. And then the leprechaun attacks and he just
Jonathan Correia:You had that crossover?
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, that crossover?
James Jay Edwards:We already had it. What other dream
Jacob Davidson:Oh, I got one. Like this has been my dream for
Kelly McNeely:Yes.
Jacob Davidson:Does that mean they both got that same chaotic
Kelly McNeely:Yeah, it'd be a great numbers game too. Because
Jonathan Correia:And then at the end, throw in triples.
Kelly McNeely:Yeah.
James Jay Edwards:Then you have Hobgoblins versus Ghoulies. And
Kelly McNeely:to like a bracket. Yeah.
James Jay Edwards:tournament. tournament of crossovers.
Jacob Davidson:Yeah. Or maybe like you get a fusion like you
Jonathan Correia:Cremlin. Interesting.
Jacob Davidson:And the possibilities are endless.
Jonathan Correia:I just want a sequel to Ghoulies 3: Ghoulies
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, a Ghoulies 4: Ghoulies Go to Grad School.
Jonathan Correia:There was Ghoulies 4
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, but nobody cares about it.
Jonathan Correia:Yeah, don't care.
Kelly McNeely:Is it two or four that they went to space?
Jacob Davidson:ghoulies never went to space? Yeah.
Kelly McNeely:ghoulies didn't but critters did
Jacob Davidson:Oh, yeah. Critters 4 they did go back to
James Jay Edwards:Yeah, leprechaun went to space too,
Kelly McNeely:3000 at one point was in space. I think I would
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, there's some possibilities there. Yeah.
Kelly McNeely:You animated you could do whatever you want. Oh,
Jonathan Correia:What about you, Brianna? What's your
Bri Spieldenner:That's hard. I don't know if I have one. I kind
Kelly McNeely:Swamp Thing and Creature. Mm hmm.
James Jay Edwards:Want to see Jaws versus Orca
Jonathan Correia:Jaws vs Orca?
Jacob Davidson:I mean, you just have a shark fight an orca
James Jay Edwards:Yeah, that's pretty much what it would be.
Kelly McNeely:I was perusing I think it was Tubi looking at
Bri Spieldenner:Ooh, that's a good one
Jacob Davidson:I've heard of that one.
Kelly McNeely:I kind of want to watch
Bri Spieldenner:Bigfoot vs Moth Man.
Jacob Davidson:There you go.
James Jay Edwards:Some of those asylum and sci fi movies are
Jacob Davidson:Yeah,
James Jay Edwards:they go crazy with him or you know, there's
Jacob Davidson:Sharktopus versus Pterakuda features Conan
Jonathan Correia:Oh, I did not know that.
Jacob Davidson:Yeah, he did a cameo. I love it
Kelly McNeely:got a sharktopus, or mega shark versus crocosaurus
Jacob Davidson:That's it. Yeah,
James Jay Edwards:I just think Pterakuda is the most awesome
Bri Spieldenner:there's also the Evil Dead, or not the Evil
Kelly McNeely:which I watched
Jacob Davidson:Oh, God.
Bri Spieldenner:Oh, you did watch that, Kelly.
Kelly McNeely:I did watch that.
Bri Spieldenner:Tell us how gr at that cinematic master
Kelly McNeely:You know, it was mostly a clip show, which was telling the story of every other movie in the franchise. And then
James Jay Edwards:kind of along the same lines. If any of you
Jacob Davidson:I did
Bri Spieldenner:No.
James Jay Edwards:Is that any good? Or was that the same type
Jacob Davidson:It did have Corey Feldman? Yeah, I was just
Kelly McNeely:Yeah, yeah. Which I think is also on Tubi
James Jay Edwards:it's not hard to believe that the entire Full
Jacob Davidson:you didn't feel pretty much
Jonathan Correia:it's hard for me to watch a Full Moon movie
James Jay Edwards:Isn't Tourist Trap a Full Moon movie?
Jacob Davidson:It is.
Jonathan Correia:Yeah. That was good. They did some good stuff in the 80s. After
Kelly McNeely:and Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowlarama
James Jay Edwards:Hey, that movie is a national treasure. movie came out. So when that movie came out, I was like, Oh,
Jonathan Correia:Nice.
Bri Spieldenner:You must be so proud.
James Jay Edwards:I am. I'm a huge Quigley fan. I love that
Jonathan Correia:Now, for me, my ultimate crossover should be And it's like, yeah, we're kind of past our whole Monster Squad
Jacob Davidson:and they bring back some some more like even
Jonathan Correia:Yeah, that would be awesome.
Jacob Davidson:Yeah.
Kelly McNeely:I'd watch the shit out of that.
Jonathan Correia:Fred Decker, please.
Kelly McNeely:We know you're listening.
James Jay Edwards:But let's leave it on our plea Fred Decker right?
Kelly McNeely:Correct yes
James Jay Edwards:the last Wednesday of every month it's
Kelly McNeely:ask us very nicely
James Jay Edwards:Yeah, not like I'm doing right now. I'm them some love. Our artwork is by Chris Fisher. So go get him
Kelly McNeely:We do. So we are on Instagram
James Jay Edwards:As you can us, you can find Eye On Horror
Jonathan Correia:I and I didn't make a Letterbox instead I and look up Eye On Horror and you can find that list.
James Jay Edwards:I saw that you put John Wick on our list
Jonathan Correia:Like I said, anytime we mentioned a movie
Bri Spieldenner:I like that. That's a good idea.
James Jay Edwards:Or you could do one for yours.
Kelly McNeely:We're stealing that, yeah
Jonathan Correia:Yeah. steal away.
James Jay Edwards:I probably stole it from someone too. I'm
Bri Spieldenner:no problem is great to be here.
Kelly McNeely:Yeah.
James Jay Edwards:So good to have you. And we will see you
Jacob Davidson:I'm Jacob Davison.
Jonathan Correia:I'm Jonathan Correia.
Kelly McNeely:I'm Kelly McNeely.
Bri Spieldenner:I'm Bri Spieldenner
James Jay Edwards:Keep your Eye On Horror.
Jonathan Correia:Okay, no one has responded to me trying to send it to you free. Fuck, I'll even sign it for you if you secret messages.
